1. What are Google Ads assets?

Google recently changed the naming of what it was called before “Google extensions'' to Google Assets. So whenever you come across the naming “Google assets'' just keep in mind that we are still speaking about the “extensions” we add on our Google Ads campaign like Call-assets, sitelink-assets, so only the terminology has changed, but the features are still the same!

Google Ads is Google’s very own advertising service, where businesses can display Ads based on the keywords entered by users. These Ads will show up on Google’s SERP results, which allow websites to “jump the queue” to the top of the results pages when a user enters the Ad keyword in their search. Additionally, you will be able to create and edit Ads, manage your daily budget, and location, and use Ads asset features to create a more targeted campaign.

Now that you have set up your Google Ads campaign, you would probably like to add more information about your website in your company to your current Ads, right?. No worries! This is perfectly possible and super easy doable with Strato MarketingRadar! With our Ads assets option, you can add your address, phone number, location but also different sitelinks to your Ads campaign. Keep in mind, however, that the additions explained in this article will be added as an asset and will not be included as part of the text of your Ads campaign.

To see which assets you can add, please go to Google Ads on the left menu of your dashboard, and then click on “assets”.

In the “assets” section, it will be possible for you to check all the necessary assets and also to check whether they are activated or not, in which case you can activate or deactivate them by simply clicking the on the gray/green button on the right side of the assets! Please note that you cannot activate assets for specific Ads. Once you activate assets, they will be applied to all the Ads you have selected. However, it does not mean that all the assets you added will be displayed every time your Ads will be shown. Google will only display them when it is relevant to the search query that triggers the particular Ad.

2. Call assets

Call assets allow you to add your phone number to an existing Ad. This can be very beneficial for you as it can increase the number of clicks you will receive since customers will more likely click on an Ad with a trustworthy phone number in it. This can be seen when the phone number is showing, people can click or tap on a button to call you directly, instead of having to dial the whole number themselves.

Make sure that if you want to add your phone number, it has to be as a call asset and not in the form of text. If you place it elsewhere inside your text, it will probably be disapproved by Google because of their policy, and your Ad will not appear any more on the Ads at all.

3. Asset with additional information

The assets with additional information are very helpful to stand out from the competitors and to generate more qualified leads because you already provide the customer with important information before they enter the website. You can use this asset to highlight the benefits of the products or services you want to promote. For example, "Pick-up service only" or "Free shipping" additional information is suitable as a restaurant, as this often plays a crucial role in the customer's purchase decision. If you offer high-quality or unique products, it makes a lot of sense to highlight certain product benefits, e.g. “plastic-free”, "made in the USA " or "100% genuine leather". This way, customers know directly what added value your products or services bring them and encourage them to click your Ad. 4. Location assets

The Location asset is a very important feature for local businesses. Adding your location allows potential customers to easily find your company and where it is located. This will show your Ads with your address, a map to your location or the distance to your business or store. Users can also click on the asset to get more information about your location in your Google My Business page. If you want further details about this and when to use location assets, please click here.

5. Sitelink assets

There is also the possibility to add more links to your Ads campaign with multiple sitelinks assets. When visitors click on the added link, they go directly to a specific page on your website, which will be easier for them to find a particular product or service they are looking for. For instance, it can be a product, information or in particular or the contact page of your business.

If you would like to know more and have more in depth information about the benefits of sitelinks and how it exactly works, please refer to the Google support page about this subject.

Please note that in order to be able to add these assets to your Ads, you need to launch your Ads campaign first in Strato MarketingRadar.

Now that you have all the information on how to add assets to your Ads, what are you waiting for? Activate your assets and get more customers!
